Lincoln, Nebraska – Nov. 4, 2024 — Backyard Farmer, a leading television program on gardening, has joined forces with Seed Your Future, a non-profit dedicated to promoting horticultural education, awareness, and career opportunities, to launch a new social media campaign focused on Building the Future of Horticulture. This campaign is designed to inspire young people to explore careers in horticulture by showcasing the experiences, expertise, and passion of influential leaders in the industry.

In September 2024, Seed Your Future held its annual leadership meeting at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), where UNL professors, extension educators, students, and industry leaders gathered to explore pressing topics and future trends in agronomy and horticulture. This collaboration with Backyard Farmer brings attention to the exciting possibilities in horticulture, highlighting the dynamic professionals who are actively shaping the field’s future.

The online campaign features seven engaging video stories, each spotlighting a different leader’s contributions to horticulture. These videos capture the dedication and innovation driving the industry forward—from sustainable practices and advanced agricultural technologies to inspiring educational programs and community initiatives. By sharing these leaders' journeys, the campaign looks to encourage younger generations to consider careers in horticulture and to recognize the field's critical role in sustainability, food security, and environmental stewardship.

Each video is shared on Backyard Farmer's social media platforms (Facebook/Instagram/X/YouTube), ensuring accessibility and maximizing reach to a diverse audience, including young viewers and those new to the industry. Together, Backyard Farmer and Seed Your Future are celebrating the leaders transforming horticulture today and laying the groundwork for tomorrow’s horticultural advancements.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Seed Your Future on this initiative. It aligns perfectly with our mission to educate and inspire the public about horticulture,” said Kim Todd, Backyard Farmer host. “By spotlighting these leaders, we’re not only showcasing their incredible work but also inviting the next generation to become part of this rewarding and impactful field.”

This partnership emphasizes the growing importance of horticulture in addressing global challenges and underscores the potential for innovation and leadership within the industry.
