Nutsedge Control

How can we control nutsedge in our yard?  My neighbor had nutsedge last year; did the seed blow into my lawn?

The nutsedge usually grows from the tubers not the seed, however existing tubers can remain dormant in the soil for 60-70 years.

SedgeHammer is a post-emergent herbicide that provides good control of yellow nutsedge.   It is best to treat it before June 21 (the longest day of the year).  Wait until the nutsedge plants are growing before making your first application. Usually nutsedge starts to emerge around the late May to early June.

Multiple applications will be required for total control.
